These are the rules of my humble site. You will be required to follow them. They will be enforced so don't even think about ignoring them. I am, however, a benevolent dictator and will give people much mercy. Despite whatever rules I may put into place, please remember that my main agenda here is for you to have fun, not for you to follow my rules. They are simply here to make sure that everyone can have fun.
#1) When you register, you can choose whatever nickname you want (keeping in line with rule five), but do I ask that you put your character's name as your Display Name.
Bad Example: shootingstarz111
Good Example: Henry Tudor
#2) Your Display Name must be first and last (middle is ok as well if you wish) with capitalized first letters.
Bad Example: marie lincolon; MaRiE lInCoLoN
Good Example Marie Lincoln
#3) If you have multiple characters, you must make a new account for each. Also, if you are on staff, or get hired for staff, you must create a staff account. This way, everyone knows who the staff is and we can keep everything in line. Staff accounts can have special names (which would be better anyway). Example: Benjiboy180 - good staff name.
#4)In order to keep a massive amount of characters from exploding onto the site, we are limiting the amount of characters that one person may have. When you first register, you are allowed to have one. Once you have been considerably active (something determined by the staff) you will be allowed to make another. Basically, every time you want to make a new character, just throw a PM by one of the staff and ask for permission. We will take into consideration each request and then give you an answer. We don't wish to restrict you, but this is the best way to keep everything running smoothly. There could be a number of reasons why we don't want you to have another character, please respect the decision for it will have plenty of thought put into it.
Rule number four is on hold for the time being.
#5) This is a PG-13 site. Teenagers lives are full of drugs, sex, and alcohol, but we do not need to go into any graphic detail. This rule will be strictly enforced. Not only are more vulgar curse words forbidden, but so are graphic sexual terms. If you violate this rule, you will be warned and asked to modify your post. If you violate it again, you will be suspended from the site for a few days. If you insist on violating the rule, you will be banned. Leniency is, however, here and genuine forgetting will be dealt with less severely.
#6) Be nice to each other! Roleplaying is no fun if people are flaming each other and being rude. Bad attitudes will hold the most strict punishments. I can know that people have misunderstandings and even quarrels, but under no circumstances will you bash another person on here. Flaming in reference to race, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, or religion is entirely unacceptable and will result in hearing from myself and most likely a ban.
#7) Your staff is here to help you. If we ask you to do something or not do something, we have a reason. Please adhere to what they say. They are simply trying to make things run most efficiently for everyone. Arguing or refusing to cooperate will be dealt with heavily. Just don't try it please.
#8) No staff (including myself) are excluded from these rules. Granted, some of them may not apply, but we are required to follow them as well. It is only right.
#9) All posts in character should be of substantial length. Absolutely no one liners! We desire to have good roleplaying happening here, and that means two short paragraphs (about 5 average sentences long each) are the bare minimum for a post. Likewise, an extremely lengthy post can cause a person to feel overwhelmed and not want to post. Please, keep in mind that you are interacting with other people and try not to blow them away with a novel.
#10) I expect everything written here (in character and out) to be written with excellence. By excellence, I mean to the best of your ability. If you have been accepted, we realize your potential, and even if you are not at par with everyone else, do your very best. Everyone do your very best. I am a huge stickler on grammar, punctuation, and spelling, so be sure that you do it right. If need be, use Microsoft Word and copy and paste it to the reply. Do whatever you need to do in order to keep your posting at an advanced level. I am not going to call this a 'literary site' because most of the members are not English Professors. We simply wish to do our best. Absolutely no chat speak! The C-Box is a little more lenient on chat speak, but when posting anywhere here, it may not be used. Violations will be dealt with privately. Basically, we will ask you to modify with correct mechanics and refer you to programs that might help you.
#11) Cheese-Its are the king of all that is cheese. Keep that in mind ye mortals.
#12) You may not have a character with the same last name as someone else unless they are related (which needs to be approved by the other player before hand and mentioned in the application). Likewise, do not choose the same first name as someone else. There are plenty of first names out there, you can find another one. It gets very hectic with five Betty's running around. To find out if a name, or a version of that same name, is taken, just look through the cannon list, the roster, and the pending applications.
#13) You may not use an actor to portray your character if someone else if using them. Once again, too confusing. There are plenty of actors and actresses out there.
#14) Please use a famous person to portray your character. It doesn't have to be an actor. It can be a musician, a model, or some other famous person, but no personal pictures. That is for your own safety. In fact, don't post pictures of yourself anywhere on here. There are a lot of sickos out there. If you want people to see who you are, post a link to Myspace or Facebook or something of that sort.
#15) All posts and ideas created here are owned by the site and the members here of. You may not steal the ideas or posts without prior confirmation. Likewise, the icons and avatars around the site (not the ones character's have on their profiles) are owned by the respectives creators. Same with the references to music, movies, and television around the site and skins.
#16) All advertising is to be done in the advertising area. No exceptions. You may, however, post a small link in your signature, but no where else.
#17) If your signature is big enough to make the screen stretch, you will be asked to either shrink it, or get a new one. This keeps everything looking nice for other people.
#18) Do not have an overly cluttered signature. One signature graphic is enough for each character, little else needs to be there. They just muddle things up.
#19) If there is a form for something (claims, application, etc.) use it! They are there for a reason. The staff have created them and they know where to find the info they want. If you have a suggestion about them, Pm a staff member, or post in the Support Center.
#20) No one is perfect, so don't even try to make a character that is. If you post an application for a character without any faults, you will be required to modify it. Where is the fun in roleplaying as someone who does everything right.
#21) The staff here is only human. We make mistakes. Please be helpful and work with us should something happen. Also, we are a friendly bunch. Don't hesitate to come to us for help in anything. We want to be here to improve your experience. Also, if you feel that we are doing something wrong, tell us so we can change it.
#22) Keep threads in the OOC section pertinent to the original subject, unless it is chiefly expressed as a random discussion thread or the starter of said thread agrees to the new avenue of thought. I have gained the infamous title at other sites of an OTM (Off Topic Mongrel), so I must control myself as well. We just don't want people hijacking perfectly useful threads. There is no need for it.
#23) If you are going to post a thread, be sure to post it in the correct area. Graphics requests do not belong in the General Discussion thread, there is a thread made for that exact purpose already. This rule is especially important when it comes to advertising. I do not want any advertising anywhere besides the designated spots (per the rule #16).
#24) When posting conversation, try to put all spoken words in bold and a color. It doesn't matter what color you use as long as everyone involved uses a different color. It keeps things easy and organized. Also, thoughts should be posted in italics and the same color as spoken words.
#25) If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time (like longer than a few days), let a staff member know. In order to keep everything running smoothly, we need to know when you are going to be absent so we can work around it. In fact, we have a forum dedicated just for that right here.
#26) Once we have a good deal of members, the staff will do monthly status updates to see who is still active on the board. First we will send out a PM. If that gets no reply in a few weeks, we will try to contact you via e-mail. If we get no response to that in a few weeks, we will delete your character.
#27) When your character is finally accepted, get a signature and an avatar that depicts your character so we have a face to go with the posts that you are writing.
#28) Have fun! Taht is what this site is here for.
